Requirements vary by role, but generally include: being 18 years or older, completing our training program, passing a background check (for certain roles), commitment to our values of cultural sensitivity and inclusion, and availability for the minimum time commitment of the role you're applying for.

Do I need mental health experience to volunteer? +

While previous experience is beneficial for some roles, it's not required for all positions. We provide comprehensive training for all volunteers. What's most important is your compassion, cultural sensitivity, and willingness to learn. We have diverse roles that match different skill sets and experience levels.

How much time do I need to commit? +

Time commitments vary by role, typically ranging from 2-7 hours per week. Most roles require a minimum commitment of 3-6 months to ensure consistency for the communities we serve. We offer flexible scheduling and both regular and occasional volunteer opportunities to accommodate different availability.

We offer both remote and in-person opportunities. Many of our roles, like peer support facilitation and translation, can be done entirely remotely. Community outreach and some special events may involve in-person activities. We indicate the location requirements clearly in each role description.

What training and support will I receive? +

All volunteers complete a comprehensive onboarding program that includes mental health first aid, cultural competency, role-specific training, and safety protocols. You'll receive ongoing support from our volunteer coordinators, have access to peer mentoring, and participate in regular check-ins and continuing education opportunities.
